Tobin Eason

Guest Dancer

Born in 1984 and from Mandeville, Louisiana, Tobin Eason began his ballet training at age seven
at the Apetrei Dance Center. At age 11, he also went to the Giacobbe Academy of Dance in New
Orleans, LA, He continued his professional training through the School of American Ballet,
where he received a full scholarship in 2000. While at SAB, Tobin was awarded the Nureyev
Foundation Scholarship Award. In the summer of 2001, he attended ABT's Summer Intensive
Program on full scholarship. Tobin Eason joined the ABT Studio company the same year.
Eason was hired by American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 2002 and became a member of
the Company's corps de ballet in April 2003. He has performed in roles with ABT in La Fille mal
gardée, Petrouchka, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Raymonda, Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty,
Cinderella, Le Corsaire, The Firebird, Romeo and Juliet, Eugene Onegin, Theme and Variations,
La Bayadere, Rodeo, Fall River Legend, Twlya Tharp’s Baker's Dozen and Brahm’s Hayden
Variations, Paul Taylor’s Black Tuesday and Company B, Christopher Wheeldon’s Thirteen
Diversions, Kurt Jooss’s The Green Table, and Anthony Tudor’s Lilac Garden, Pillar of Fire and
The Leaves are Fading, to name a few. At Ballet Theatre, Mr. Eason worked with choreographers
Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon, Paul Taylor, Tywla Tharp, Azure Barton, Jessica
Lang, as well as dancers and coaches Natalia Makorova, Kevin Mckenzie, Irina Kolpakova,
Susan Jaffe, and Gelsley Kirkland.
After leaving Abt in 2012, Tobin continues to perform with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet at the
Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. He has danced in the operas of Aida, Die
Zauberflote and the The Magic Flute, Rusalka, Tannhauser, Mefistofile, Arabella, Queen of
Spades, Turandot, Don Giovanni, Macbeth, Les contes d’Hoffmann, Lucia Di Lammermoor, Die
Zauberflote, Werther, Eugene Onegin, and Die Fledermaus.
In addition, Mr. Eason is on the faculty at Joffrey Ballet School and is a painter and sells his
artwork online and upon request
